The people at the table

The desk

The practice exists because a renewal meeting is a poor place to open a claims listing for the first time. We read the files in Kutaisi, then send a briefing the room can follow.

Large-loss and renewal packs

Sat on the broker side of treaty meetings in Tbilisi, then came west. Giorgi writes the two pages an underwriter will actually keep.

Tables and settlement charts

Trained as an economist in Kutaisi. Tamar draws paid against outstanding so the meeting is not arguing about a spreadsheet layout.

Broker Vectorbase opened on Gamsakhurdia Street after too many Imereti books were summarised in Tbilisi as a single loss ratio. The files themselves — first-notice dates, a wet winter of water claims, a junction collision that never produced a recovery letter — were still in Kutaisi. We stayed with the files.

We are not an insurer, not a licensed loss-adjusting house, and not a substitute for the National Bank of Georgia’s supervision of the companies we sit beside. Brokers and claims departments hire us to read what they already hold. When a sitting would require a licence we do not have, we say no.

The working rule is simple. One named reviewer owns the pack. Charts follow the listing; they do not decorate it. If a number cannot be tied to a file or a field, it does not go on the page. Clients are due a reservation as much as a finding: a thin bordereau, a missing first-notice date, a large loss with no survey, all of that belongs in the briefing.

Kutaisi is not a backdrop. Level 8 is where paper can be spread without a sales floor walking through. Appointments exist so a claims file is not left open beside the kettle. If you cannot travel, we work from copies and hold the walkthrough by telephone.
